ADDICTION. We often associate the term addiction with drug abuse, but addiction can be defined in more general terms as a chronic or habituated, relapsing disorder characterised by compulsive short term pleasure seeking (or relief from pain), despite long-term, negative consequences. †

It is a complex condition characterized by compulsive behaviours that involve the use of substances or engagement in activities, even though they may be harmful to the individual.

He said recently on his podcast, he didn’t have a ‘drink problem’, he had a ‘drink solution’ !! His cronic drinking habit in the 90’s/& 00’s may have caused him problems in his life, but it was ultimately medicating a part of himself that needed serious attention and deep healing.
